Overall Satisfaction with JAMS

We use JAMS as the scheduler for almost all of our critical batch processing needs. We needed a solution which would effortlessly allow for file transmission via FTP, ability to send files via email, robust alerting for job failures, and the ability to run custom .NET jobs on a schedule. JAMS does all of this with little effort and maintenance.

Pros

  • Support
  • Credential management
  • Scheduling, including dependencies

Cons

  • Better separation of environments (production vs qa vs development)
  • Built in job runbook (with schedules, job information, etc)
  • Web client could be improved
  • JAMS allowed our company to scale to a place where we would not be able to without it or a similar solution. Before JAMS our automation and scheduling was extremely limited.
  • JAMS ability to rerun jobs, handle errors, and send alerts reduces costs as we do not have to have employ personnel just to monitor our automation processes.
  • JAMS has allowed us to utilize newer technologies which provide simpler and more robust automation compared to older technologies.
We're able to have multiple people developing in JAMS at one time which is extremely helpful. We're also able to deploy JAMS agents to any server that requires it, and have redundant schedulers set up in our environment. The one thing that could be improved in the scalability area is the Definitions tab since after adding many jobs over the years it can become difficult to manage.
JAMS customer support is absolutely fantastic. I rate them the highest out of any of our other vendors. I know I will always get a knowledgeable support person and they are available through chat for quick assistance. If time allows, they do not hesitate to take your question away and test it in their test environment or bounce it off of other people that work on JAMS just to make sure that they can get the most correct answer possible.

Do you think JAMS delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with JAMS's feature set?

Yes

Did JAMS live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of JAMS go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy JAMS again?

Yes

JAMS is fantastic at what it can do. While there are some things that it can't, JAMS has the ability to run custom jobs through the "Execute CMD" feature, so as long as you are able to create those jobs JAMS should be perfect for most environments. For smaller or less experienced teams it may be difficult to get JAMS to do every automation task needed, but there is an addon that brings some of that functionality to JAMS (we do not use it currently).
