Overall Satisfaction with TIBCO Jaspersoft

I used Jaspersoft for simple and straightforward processed of Analysis of Data, data presentation and Bussiness Inteligence as a whole, at mobile (iOS, Android) and web environment to meet the requirements that my clients request in our Project. Since I am a freelance developer, we could say that we used Jaspersoft across the whole organization.
  • Analysis of Data
  • Bussiness Inteligence
  • Data Presentation
  • It could use more elaborate reporting.
  • Would like to see a community version.
  • If you aren't subscribing to Jaspersoft, it could be a bit hard to learn.
These could be more easy to learn and reporting. For example, building a demo page, but we expected guarantee for Business Intelligence work. So my clients and I at the end we decided to try Jaspersoft and the result was as expected.
Jaspersoft is good for reporting if you are suited to iReport or Jasper. If you use Java it's great. If you are not suited to them, you would probably need to cross through a learning curve. Jaspersoft for reporting could be a little problematic for responsive environments. Everything else regarding business intelligence is great and recommended.

Evaluating TIBCO Jaspersoft and Competitors

Not Sure - I'm going to focus on two BI providers that we use in our projects: Tableau and Jaspersoft.

While Tableau has a clean and me attractive UI, Jaspersoft has two unbeatable advantages. First of all, it's open source (and superior to Pentaho, which could be a potential competitor). Second, it is unsurpassed for embedded reports, and even more so in our case we use a lot of Java and J2EE.

So what we do is decide. If the end user will be able to manage and customize their own reports, we assign Tableau. If the requirement passed thought us and the UI is not a crucial factor, Jaspersoft is much more confortable and fulfills the case use.

Java compatibility.

Our applications are 90% made in Java, and TIBCO Jaspersoft gives us the opportunity to generate embedded reports with a unique simplicity. The client is not aware of it but the result is superior to a stand alone reporting and BI tool, given that we attack directly the reporting features that the client wants.
We are developers, not resellers or end users. Neither dev ops. The evaluation and selection process will be linked to what we know how to do best: create software that meet the needs of our customers.

In this way, when we offer applications, we also offer reports. And when wet offer reports, we offer functionalities that are consistent with them. The more compatible the BI tool is with our software, and the closer and more natural it is to the end user, the tool will be more likely to be chosen.
