Overall Satisfaction with Kofax Power PDF (formerly Nuance)

It is being used by the department, it is used for adding signatures to documents, combining documents, viewing documents and editing. Power PDF allows us to create split invoices that our ERP does not, It also allows me to edit and sign documents of fill in documents eliminating the need to print fill in, scan and send. I have also used it to extract the text from a PDF document so I could perform analysis.
  • The security feature to sign documents works very well.
  • Extracting a portion of a document as needed is very helpful, it even allows the ability to grab a portion of a page to create a new document.
  • The typewriter feature is fantastic letting me fill in questionnaires or forms that don't have form fields.
  • The combine all feature works perfectly to combine all the financial reports into a consolidated report.
  • The convert feature works some of the time but takes a long time even when it does work.
  • Converting a document to forms works for the most part but puts some fields where they are not needed and doesn't in others.
  • Combining files works but you need to browse for each document or you can use combine all to combine all open documents. It would be nice if when combining files you could select to combine from open files, making it easier to combine only a portion of the open files not all.
  • Time savings.
  • Paper reduction.
  • Filing ease.
It is easy to use, it took me a little bit of time to figure out a couple of the features but I did figure them out. Learning where to click to type so that it appears in the right spot was a bit of a learning curve as well.
Adobe Acrobat works well but almost every feature costs extra and for this reason, I would avoid using some of the features I believed it would do. Kofax Power PDF has everything available from the get-go. There are also some things that I can do in Power PDF that I don't think Adobe Acrobat has the capability of doing or I never found how to do them easily.
Support that you never need to use is the best support that can be offered. It shows quality control and customer focus is important to them. With that said, I have never had a need to use support so I have no idea how good it is when needed.

I agree Kofax Power PDF is a feature rich PDF editor. Personally I find the typewriter function and the security signing features to be the most valuable features saving both time and wasted paper. As for workflow, it allows me to combine all the financials into a single seamless financial package that I can present rather than going through the tedious process of printing each financial document, assembling them and then scanning them.
If you are doing anything beyond reading PDFs, it is a must. Anytime you find yourself printing a document, filling in information, and signing documents, Power PDF allows you to fill in the document and sign it without printing. This makes the documents more legible and professional. If all you do is read print and file you probably don't need Power PDF.
