Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Lifesize Video Conferencing at my newspaper to make conference calls to sources for stories we are working on. With the hectic schedule of the news cycle, we unfortunately, don't always have time to speak with a source in person. When this is the case, Lifesize has helped us when we need to talk with a source quickly.

Pros and Cons

Lifesize has good picture quality
Sound quality is excellent
Add on services are great!

I wish we could record for longer than 10 hours
I wish the chat room was easier to use during a video call
The price is not as competitive as other video conferences

Return on Investment

The biggest thing that Lifesize has allowed us to do is connect with sources that we would not otherwise be able to connect with because of travel times, meeting locations, etc.
Lifesize saves us costs because we are able to connect with sources more quickly, and so we can talk to more people to write more stories.
This service has also freed up our reporters' time to allow them to spend more time on the quality of the story.

Implementation Rating

This program was not at all difficult to implement, because it was not difficult to connect with sources once we had this up and running.

Alternatives Considered

Skype

We considered Skype, but the video and audio output of Lifesize is much better quality than Skype.

Likelihood to Recommend

We needed to talk to a group of people for a story once, and Lifesize allowed us to talk to people individually. I like the fact that it will focus on only one person at a time.
