Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Entra ID
We use Entra ID for single sign-on. We also use it to integrate with Microsoft 365 and various other applications. We use a signal sign on for that. For instance, we have single sign on with Salesforce. We use Entra ID to sign users in and out of that.
Pros
- It is really great once you sign in, the single sign on works pretty flawlessly and also does a great job of tracking user behaviors with the products. Logins from various locations, different devices provides an interface for tracking those behaviors.
Cons
- I think the log search for the behaviors could be a little bit better. Sometimes it's difficult to use or track down a specific issue that we're working through. If a user gets blocked, does a soft lock or a partial lock on the account, sometimes it's difficult to see that right away. So ease of access of the information pertaining to an event, I think that could be a little bit better. But I mean overall I think it's a good product. There's not much I would improve on.
- I'd say security is always a concern. The product helps to solidify the environment that we are using. The positive impact would be I can help get our organization towards to meet our cybersecurity initiative.
- I don't have a specific return on investment other than it simplifies, helps get us to that end goal of being as secure as reasonably possible.
Yes. Originally before we implemented Entra ID, we just had an on-premise. It was managed by a service provider and when I started working with dsi, we press the button. Is it still going okay? It's still going. You're good. I was responsible for moving that infrastructure over, so it was managed in-house versus by a service provider. We had changed the way our infrastructure worked so that we could leverage Azure and Office 365 in more of a cloud type environment. Part of that was setting up our own infrastructure that was managed by us, but also getting it to synchronize with the cloud so that it was both on-premise and in the cloud. So that's a little bit about our infrastructure is that we have a hybrid deployment both and in the cloud.
Yes. Salesforce was a good example of that. We're still undergoing a Salesforce implementation. They have their own user identity management and rather than trying to manage identities in a separate system, the sciences, we have Entra ID and we've had it for five years. Just leverage that for single sign-on and leverage it to grant access into the third party application Salesforce.
Salesforce is one. We offer sort of like a guest wifi, but it's for employees on premise. We have four sites, four different branch offices scattered. We have two in Florida, we have one in Arizona and then another one in London. Each one of those sites, they have what's called like an employee wifi. The employee wifi is set up in such a way where they're all, the sites are set up the exact same way. With our traveling users, they can go from each office and their personal devices connect right up into the wifi and all that is authenticated using Entra ID.
Yes. The positive impact would be a single username, password and credentials to leverage applications that they use day in, day out. So one lock or one key to unlock everything. It's nice.
I think the closest one would be because we recently went through an implementation, but Salesforce has their own version of a signal sign-on product. It's not the same. I'd say that it works, but it doesn't give you as much functionality.
