Microsoft Entra ID is the backbone of our infrastructure. It has largely replaced on-premise AD and allows for identity management, authentication, and authorization across both local and cloud providers. Having one source of truth that allows for anywhere authentication and authorization has revolutionized the game for us while providing high levels of trust via 2FA.

We still maintain Active Directory. However, we a re quickly shifting to moving all of our identify management to the cloud once we can replace legacy tools (minimal at this point). The sync between on-premise AD and cloud Entra ID is effortless and rock solid. We have never had an issue with the sync.
Microsoft Entra ID is used to secure almost every app the business uses. It gives one password and 2FA across all apps and makes deploying and setting up the new apps easy on IT while presenting a familiar and easy login prompt for end-users.

Users now only have to remember one password and have one method of 2FA across all apps. The users are presented with a familiar screen that they're comfortable with.
Microsoft Entra ID offers the same or very similar services to the other products but in a package that is familiar and recognizable to everyone. It enjoys better community support and world-class security and reliability.
