Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Power BI

We are using Power BI in our Medical Economics department to help visualize the contracts that we negotiate with the health insurance companies. We use it to understand how those negotiated rates perform over time. We compare the insurance companies' rates to each other in various ways with different metrics.
  • Data organization.
  • Ease of data conversion.
  • The relational database only allows one true join so you have to get creative.
  • I want more positional controls.
Both Qlik and Microsoft Power BI both stack up very well next to each other. I personally liked Qlik just a little bit more but the price difference for us is what really changed our minds.
I connect to many different sources and have not had any problems. I have tried SQL, Cubes, Excel, and flat files.
The sharing in our department is excellent. I like that you can add comments about a particular chart or graph. You can notify everyone when an update is available.
Microsoft Power BI has been well suited in 3 main areas for us. First, it does really well at organizing disparate data and combining it all together. The second thing it does well is that it has the capability to modify or transform your data based on logic. Finally, the out of the box visuals cover pretty much everything you need for reporting.
