Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Visio

We use Microsoft Visio mainly as a process mapping tool, creating mostly cross-functional swim lane diagrams for discrete processes or application integrations. Through the use of templating and agreed shapes and other artefacts, Microsoft Visio is used to create a large portion of the training material and system analysis documentation before development and deployment.

  • Enhanced new joiner on-boarding due to process flows created using same templates and level
Not the most intuitive but when you get going it’s relatively easy to adopt. Other tools like Miro and Lucid provide more online seminars which would be nice. Also lack of group collaboration on live board hinders Microsoft Visio compared to these other platforms.
Microsoft Visio is somewhat more rigid that the other tools I mentioned, which can definitely be a good thing. Also the cross functional swim diagram in Microsoft Visio is more advanced.

Understanding and then documenting a business process or system integration. Analysing a process for single points of failure. Creating contextual diagrams to visualise how multi system architectures work. Producing training materials to allow those unfamiliar with a system or process to quickly understand it. Creating organisational templates for process diagrams.
