Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft Visual Studio Code

It is widely used for development purposes and can be used by front end developers as well as a backed team.
Supported multiple languages such as:
  • JavaScript
  • TypeScript
  • HTML,CSS
  • Python
  • PHP
  • C/C# and many more
It always updates the security features regularly and has broad support from Microsoft.
Mainly our developers & QA support team are using it since it has vast language support.

Pros

  • Supports multiple languages such as C/C#,Python, JavaScript etc.
  • Has support for built-in plugins.
  • Easy customization for team requirements.
  • Smart sense for completing and detecting code.

Cons

  • Poor interface and it took time to figure it out the feature.
  • Crash and closed automatically during the coding.
  • Doesn't have enough support for Front End coding such as HTML,Css. Should have live view during coding in the window itself.
  • Really good for smoother development. Will make the coding faster and will help in reaching deadlines easier.
  • No extra investment is required since we can install it directly from their website.
  • Not good for web development. Better go for the alternative approach
  • Notepad++, Atom, Sublime Text and Brackets
Earlier I was using Adobe Dreamweaver since web pages are easier to make in it. However, due to high cost I switched to Brackets, Sublime Text, and then Visual Studio Code. While it lacks few things, currently due to regular updates and vast community support, it comes out to be better than the rest. It supports plugins and themes which is also used by large community as well. So you trust the features can be used without hesitation.
It is best for coding purposes and it is easy to debug while coding. It is flexible and I personally use it for JavaScript.
However, although it supports HTML,Css, due to its complexity it is very difficult to use it for Front end coding.
Auto detection is a good feature in it and I will recommend it to my friends for other languages, except for web development.
It would be great if it provided smoother support for web development.

Using Microsoft Visual Studio Code

It has a small learning curve and one needs to have hands on to use it in a smoother way.
Features are really good but those features are hidden with icons and placed at inappropriate places which makes the IDE complex.Find and replace feature could be better and one can find the words by using the link only as it is in the Dreamweaver.
ProsCons
Like to use
Easy to use
Well integrated
Feel confident using
Unnecessarily complex
Requires technical support
Slow to learn
Cumbersome
Lots to learn
  • Auto populating is the great feature which can detect classes and other tags
  • Easy to sort out the functions, classes
  • I feel it is very difficult to find and replace feature and to replace in the folder, one need to upload the whole folder.
  • Multiple window in one page can lead to many confusion. It could be better.
