Overall Satisfaction with Mimecast Advanced Email Security

We use Mimecast Advanced email Security to filter all of our email for our organization. Our primary concerns are maintaining the security of our organization as well as limiting spam from outside parties. With the ever-increasing development of technology, this problem seems to be getting worse each and every year. For this reason, we have purchased Mimecast to help thwart the massive amount of spam we get every day. It also does a great job of stopping malware from coming through to our employees. For all of those reasons, we have purchased this product.

Pros

  • Blocks Spam
  • Holds suspicious emails
  • Replaces links with url protection

Cons

  • Impersonation protection has room for improvement. Nicknames and names that are very close to employees do not get blocked. We've had to create fake accounts in order to mitigate this.
  • Significantly reduced spam sent to our organization
  • Increased our email security by scanning attachments and other documents
  • Did a decent job at protecting us from impersonation attacks
After some self training, it is not very difficult to use. The menus are rather intuitive and it is very easy to do what you want as an IT staff. Having used other email software in the past, the UI is one of the better ones for ease of use and troubleshooting.

Mimecast Advanced Email Security is very competitive with Microsoft's email solution. In my opinion, Mimecast is superior as far as ease of use and the layout of the user interface. For Microsoft's product you tend to have to go down the rabbit hole to find something. With Mimecast, you're able to find most things with in a minute or less. Also you are able to analyze the email more with Mimecast than with Microsoft.

Would you buy Mimecast Advanced Email Security again?

Yes

I can't think of a situation where Mimecast wouldn't be well suited. The only situation where that maybe true is a company under 50 people. In that case, it may be overkill as the mail flow into the organization will be significantly less. You wouldn't get some of the more sophisticated attacks that bigger businesses would typically get.
