Overall Satisfaction with Mimecast Advanced Email Security
We use Mimecast Advanced Email Security as an email filtering and detection tool to help us filter out malicious content and improve our overall security posture around email security. With its many simple processes and policies, it allows us to work proactively around VIP impersonation, quickly responding to compromised external inboxes, providing long and accurate audit trails, and many more great features.
We utilize Mimecast Advanced Email Security for all emails in and out of our company, allowing us the best granularity and control over email. The ability for each use to customize their email experience within the confines of the corporate policies also reduces workload for our security team in allowing users to setup and maintain their own block / allow lists.

Pros
- Simplicity: Once set up, Mimecast Advanced Email Security is easy to use, intuitive, and simple. This reduces onboarding time with new employees.
- Robust Audit Trail: Being able to see what happened with specific emails, why things happened, and who was responsible for them helps to reduce troubleshooting time as well as improving overall email observability.
- Clean Interface: Mimecast Advanced Email Security is a Swiss-Army-Knife of email security. There are many different configurations and complex rules that can be implemented. To make this manageable Mimecast Advanced Email Security has implemented a simple and clean UI. Being able to favorite commonly used features makes a huge difference in usability.
- Simple SSO Integration: This seems like a no-brainer, but its odd to see how many SaaS products either don't support SSO, or make it so complicated and convoluted that setup and maintenance becomes a fully time job.
Cons
- Visual Documentation: Some of the flows can get complicated, more visual documentation would help clear up some of it for me.
- Customizable Quick Buttons: I would love to see that ability to customize buttons to be able to do things fast from the admin console. Things like Add Email to Admin Hold at the click of a button.
- Mimecast Advanced Email Security has made email security simple for the end user. With the granularity that we have in setting up filters and categories, the end user is no longer plagued with VIP impersonation attempts, dealing with corrupted payloads, or a myriad of other issues.
- Being able to release an email to a sandbox with a single click is a game changer. Getting a first hand look at what that email and its attachments is trying to do before releasing or rejecting it lets us perform proper investigations as well as be proactive in the evolution of our filters.
- One of the most used aspects that we utilize is the ability to create categories and hold emails. We have set it up in such a way that whenever we receive confirmation that an external email account for one of our customers or partners has been compromised, we immediately hold all emails. This allows an admin to review each email and its content before allowing them through. This is so much better than just outright rejecting emails but allows us to ensure that no nefarious emails make it through.
We've been using Mimecast Advanced Email Security for longer than I have been with the company. As far as I understand, there was no product used before Mimecast Advanced Email Security.
Since implementing Mimecast Advanced Email Security there hasn't been a need for us to investigate other solutions. We do however use KnowBe4's PhishER as an end-user tool for reporting emails that get through.
