Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Mimecast Advanced Email Security to filter emails for spam and phishing, as well as dangerous attachments and URLs. It provides end users with self service options, as well as a single pane of glass for the administrators to manage our email security environment. integrated with Mimecast Advanced Email Security is also our DNS filtering which provides web filtering as well. We use these tools for our entire organization with rarely any issues and excellent support.

Cons

Policy writing can be unintuitive
Several areas sound and feel similar, the same, so it isn't always clear which area will resolve an issue.
GUI feels a little dated

Usability

The platform is mostly clear to use, if a little dated portal. The biggest issue is several areas feel the same as other areas so finding the one you need can be confusing (IE gateway, policies, profile groups, managed senders, URL protection, Attachment protection, etc.)

Ease of Integration

It was as simple as AAD syncing and DNS entry modifications. Mimecast Advanced Email Security had a customer success team that walked us through the entire process and we were up and running in no time. Any issues that come up are quickly explained and resolved by Mimecast Advanced Email Security support team. There is clear indication when changes or updates are needed and are communicated to us in a very timely manner.

Impact

We migrated from solely Microsoft's platform to Mimecast Advanced Email Security advanced fEmail Security and the process was very simple and intuitive and Mimecast Advanced Email Security advised us the entire way. Previously we had much less protection and less communication when there was a concern or false positive, Mimecast Advanced Email Security resolved all of that once in place.

Mimecast Advanced Email Security provided us with a robuse email and dns filter. It allows us to very quickly respond to both security incidents as well as false positives. Their customer success team discussed what policies would affect what, as well as what some suggested default settings would be, as well as our organization's specific needs.

Mimecast Advanced Email Security is good for organizations needing robust mail filtering, with little maintenance, and have a budget to afford a higher end tool. Small shops or shops with larger IT Security departments may not be ideal placements for Mimecast Advanced Email Security. In addition, Mimecast Advanced Email Security only works if someone puts in the time to structure it for your organization, which thankfully Mimecast Advanced Email Security assists with at deployment.
