Overall Satisfaction with Mimecast Advanced Email Security

We use Mimecast Advanced Email Security as our principal email gateway and it filters all mail and ensures only the mail with the highest levels of spam confidence get through. Spam and malicious emails remain and existential threat to all businesses and Mimecast Advanced Email Security has proven to be the most effective tool at the perimeter for shield us against email threats.

Pros

  • Filtering out unwanted and malicious mail
  • Education of staff about potentially harmful links
  • Excellent admin control panel

Cons

  • As with all mail filters Mimecast Advanced Email Security is not infallible
  • Better mobile app to allow mail to be released when away from the office
  • Better AI interpretation of conversations in emails
  • Reduced risk of malware getting through to end users
  • Reduction in security concerns. Email remains the highest attack vector so having email monitoring with
  • Mimecast Advanced Email Security is not optional but essential
  • Analysis of mail volumes allows us to be aware of traffic volumes and be aware of domains that could potentially be a problem
Mimecast Advanced Email Security is not our only security tool but was the first one we installed and the admin portal has had minor improvements over the years but essentially the core product remains the same with the key pillars of email security being easy to manage and easy visibility of where to jump to when you login to the panel.
As we moved from on-premise exchange email to Office 365 the integration was easy to pivot fro exchange To exchange online. All of our other security tool stack integrate nicely and logging can be absorbed into our cyber stack. It’s good that Mimecast appreciates its part of a family of security products and they make it easy to work with other products.
We have used Mimecast Advanced Email Security for over 10 years and have experienced other products on trial such as Proofpoint and Abnormal but we always felt that Mimecast Advanced Email Security remained the gold standard in email security.

The best thing to say about it is that when it installed and configured it generally speaking needs little maintenance. As IT professionals we have many time pressures and it’s vital to have effective solutions that are low maintenance. When maintenance is required the admin console is easy to navigate through and menu shortcuts are intuitive and easy to control and configure.
