Overall Satisfaction with Miro

We use Miro a lot for process mapping initiatives and projects to better understand gaps and areas for improvement that can be addressed during the requirements-gathering stage. We also use it to manage the backlog of work; the latest kanban feature has been used a lot recently to track and update projects.

Pros

  • Collaboration between teams.
  • Templates for everything.
  • Visualisation of workflow and projects.

Cons

  • I have to actively manage frame sizes to fit the screen, and it is difficult to change more than one at once.
  • Having less freedom with board structure, they can get messy very quickly.
  • Board search function to find things.
  • Efficiency in team meetings for everyone to share in one collaborative space.
  • Less team meetings because if stakeholders require an update they can check Miro.
  • Backlog management can be centralised, so multiple people in a team don't have to update individual backlogs.
Usability is high, as there are many features and functionalities to suit just about anyone's needs. Where the score drops slightly is that it can be quite difficult to get set up, as the learning curve is steep. Difficult to address, as this learning curve is mostly due to the range of functions available and the depth to which they can be accessed by super users.
Day to day, I mostly utilise the timeline feature to manage workflow, add items to backlogs, and provide updates on these items. This also allows us to group by Initiative and status, so we can filter by these to focus on certain areas. The visualisation options have also been most helpful. To visualise and map processes, we've gained a much better understanding of the gaps and areas to address.
Miro has not quite replaced yet, but I often find myself writing up notes in Miro, replacing Word and OneDrive. And most recently, the team has considered using Jira less to manage stakeholder requests, as the kanban timeline in Miro is more user-friendly and might be better suited to the team's needs.

Do you think Miro delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Miro's feature set?

Yes

Did Miro live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Miro go as expected?

I wasn't involved with the implementation phase

Would you buy Miro again?

Yes

I have already helped a few people in the business utilise Miro for their functions to great success. One of the best uses is for team collaboration. In weekly meetings, we often open Miro to share how items are tracking and how they align with goals. Miro can be applied to most scenarios because of its functionality; it just takes some creativity from the user.
