Overall Satisfaction with Motive
We use Motive for ELD and have the footage needed post-accident. We do not use the Motive card, dispatch feature, or AI Motive cameras. Motive allows us to accurately track drivers, assess near-misses/coaches, and obtain critical evidence during an incident.
Pros
- Data points on nearly everything we could need.
- Customer support: text, phone, or email.
- Regular alerts on near-misses.
Cons
- Speed limit signs take a while to update. A stretch in PA and TN comes to mind, and it still has the old speed limit that was changed four months almost a year ago.
- Split sleeper berth errors: When a driver experiences an adverse driving condition and also properly completes a sleeper split, the system has not acknowledged this several times, and I had to contact Motive to get it fixed.
- Many drivers have randomly stayed on "On Duty" status, even though they had been driving for several hours.
- The speeding data allowed us to create a speeding policy almost a year ago. We went from 5-10 drivers/week "breaking" our policy to 0-2 drivers/week "breaking" it. We have also noticed fewer challenging braking events due to fewer drivers speeding.
- On more than one occasion, the video footage has saved us after the accident. In one instance, I was able to send the camera footage to the Trooper while on the scene of the accident, clearing us from any wrongdoing before the police even left the scene.
A one-stop shop for trucking safety is a good description. I can monitor a driver's safety on all fronts, and it is an easy system to navigate.
Our company used Qualcomm before getting Motive several years ago. Unfortunately, I was not working with the ELDs at that point. However, the majority of drivers say they like Motive more than Qualcomm. We have stayed with Motive due to its features, user support, and innovation with AI technology.
