Overall Satisfaction with Notion

When we talk about Notion, I love to use the book analogy. Notion is like a page that is easy to manage thanks to the block content. We can arrange those blocks based on our needs, and also, we can have a full search across other pages.

We basically use it for our internal documentation, like the HR handbook, to explain how the recruitment and onboarding process goes and technical documentation about our software development process. But when you're familiar with the Database block Type, you can turn Notion into anything. For example, some departments use Notion as task management because the database block type can be viewed using Kanban, Calendar, or Timeline view. You can always look for inspiration on how to use Notion from their Template Gallery.

Another cool feature is the sharing options. You can easily manage other users to view only, comment, or edit on specific pages.
  • "Content Block" based
  • A lot of content block type
  • Easy to customized
  • Cross-Platform: Web, Desktop, Mac, Mobile
  • Easy to manage sharing access
  • Mobile app needs UX improvement
  • The search function takes time if you have a lot of pages
  • Some people might think it's too technical and hard to getting used to it
  • Automation and API still in beta
  • "Content block"-based
  • Sharing Access
  • API, even tho it's still in beta
  • Database type-block
  • Easier to manage our Knowledge Base
  • We took 2-3 months of transition (information, and the people habit) from previous app

Do you think Notion delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Yes

Did Notion live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Notion go as expected?

No

Would you buy Notion again?

Yes

If you're looking for an app to take notes, documentation, handbook, then the answer is yes, Notion suits you well. But if you need to extend this functionality using automation or custom API, you need to wait a little longer as Notion API still in the beta stage.
