Overall Satisfaction with Nutanix

We are running all our on-premises servers and applications on Nutanix. Nutanix is used with VMware vSphere, we are looking to migrate to Nutanix Acropolis hypervisor. The main business goals and requirements are 1) high availability 2) operational simplicity and 3) scalability.

Nutanix works fine for us, I would highly recommend it if most of your workloads are virtualized.
  • Simplicity - very easy to manage, only 1 hour a week on average
  • Robustness - very robust, just keeps running, we can do upgrades during production hours
  • Performance is quite good - new VMs are deployed in seconds
  • Backup to AWS - quick and easy offsite backup
  • Would love to be able to backup and recover in the public cloud, preferably AWS
  • Support for containers would be nice to have
  • Daily operations and management are much easier now than before. We need 65% less time.
  • ROI reached in 1.5 year.
  • Best uptime compared to any other platform we used, only once scheduled downtime.
  • Simplicity, fewer components, scale out architecture
  • No fabric interconnects, fibre channel, no san, no fcoe needed whatsoever
  • Another benefit: you can manage everything using one HTML5 interface
It's very well suited to highly virtualised environments, starting with small sites with about 50 VMs, but Nutanix scales well up to more than a thousand VMs. You can't use it with legacy bare metal workloads if they require fibre channel.
