Overall Satisfaction with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

We use OCI for our distributed database setup, storing exabytes of critical client information. This database, deployed across multiple tiers and clusters, ensures that client data is available for financial decision making impacting deals worth billions of dollars, including Risk analyses, mergers, private banking and infrastructure upgrade.

We use the Oracle 12c and 19c databases exhaustively for our purposes
  • Oracle offers a cloud solution for database hosting available across multiple tiers which can be scaled vertically catering to various data sizes.
  • Support is complete, quick and efficient
  • Helpful to effect migrations from OnPrem to cloud with minimal downtime
  • Largely supports SQL databases only, forcing us to find separate solutions for Mongo, Redis or similar DB providers
  • The setup is complex and antiquated, requiring significant training and upkeep
  • Connection into local instances is tough and often unstable, leading to significant effort spent for local testing
  • OCI has greatly eased secure handling of critical and real time financial data of clients
  • OCI has ensured organization doesn't get fined big sums for leaked private data
  • OCI has ensured good uptime to ensure systems are running round the clock

Would you buy Oracle Cloud Infrastructure again?

Yes

For a complex, multi tier, multi environment architecture where separate copies of the database have to be maintained with vertical scalability a distinct alternative based on the resource capabilities of the org, I'd recommend OCI. However, for smaller teams, it's recommended to go on a pay as you scale model
