Use Cases and Deployment Scope

In a heavily regulated business, we use Oracle Cloud Infrastructure to safely and securely handle our documents and data. The Archival solution is flexible, secure, and very easy to set up. We also use it to create scalable microservices application deployments with low latency and API support. We use OCI to host our in-house SAAS applications, which require low latency and high availability for our bank's trading business. In addition, we need the proximity of the Cloud Infrastructure to certain market participants to further reduce latency.

Pros and Cons

The auto-scaling feature in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is extremely useful during sudden spikes in volumes being processed. The load balancer works seamlessly and is easy to set up.
Data storage and security.
Monitoring dashboard.

Global footprint is lacking as compared to competitors.
Integration with more cloud solutions needed(e.g. AWS).
Support is lacking a bit: slow response and lack of a wide community to help resolve issues.

The consumption-based pricing model is fair and intuitive and makes our business cost-effective.
Achieved over 60% reduction in Infra costs compared to on prem solution.
Free tier option is great to test configurations and deployments.

Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Platform

We use AWS and Google Cloud widely in our organization. However, we also use Oracle Databases for critical business, and OCI integrates well. We use OCI to test out our hypothesis for a rapid product. The Free tier is extremely useful to play around before committing.

The huge range of microservices available makes it easier to develop and deploy solutions. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure works really well to handle data security and storage requirements for heavily regulated industries like banking. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is lacking compared to its competitors when it comes to multiple available regions globally, which can impact some use cases where low latency is required.
