Overall Satisfaction with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We used Oracle Cloud Infrastructure for:

- VMs (mutliple configurations across varying CPU ranges)

- ARM based Oracle Databases

Majorly, we hosted 3 -Tier application on OCI which had Apache Web Servers, Tomcat Application Server and Oracle Databases.

Good CPU performance over databases was important reason to move towards OCI.

Pros and Cons

Pros

Good Performing VMs with high CPUs
Databases can hold large number of connections concurrely
Applications perform overall better for speed

Cons

VMs are good but proper configuration as per application load has to be planned
Databases are very good specially in case Oracle but more opensource integrations can add value
Continuous Delivery automated pipeline will be great option

Return on Investment

Very Good applications response so customer got real-time insights with great performance
Increase in con-current users enhance business productivity
Quick Data response enables faster outcomes

- We used Oracle Cloud Infrastructure with Terraform mostly and complete automated setup. So, response of OCI through API calls was very good and we got our deployments completed in planned times with multiple upgrades through Ansible as well.

So, overall, very good integration with Terraform as well as Ansible helped the mangaement of applications.

Alternatives Considered

Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling and Azure VMware Solution

- Performance was big reason for choosing Oracle Cloud infrastructure over AWS Ec2 and Azure VMware Solutions.- Oracle Database as application design was another reason for choosing Oracle Cloud infrastructure over AWS Ec2 and Azure VMware Solutions.

In turn, OCI was better option keeping in view application design and required performance.

Likelihood to Recommend

We will recommend Oracle Cloud Infrastructure for applications hosting where high performance is need for business applications like banking or health services.

Economically, they are expensive than competitors but performance wise OCI is better as well.

So, Oracle Cloud Infrastructure as good choice in case business needs high-end performing applications and low response times.
