Overall Satisfaction with Oracle Database

We use Oracle Database to store our CRM and ERP data for various customers. We have, however, encountered different issues during setup and while connecting to the DB via our applications, including several connection and timeout errors while executing queries. We never faced the same errors using competitors' DBs.

  • We have several customers running our CRM on an Oracle database, and despite the issues explained before, we were able to deploy our application within the deadlines.
Oracle DB is certainly one of the most widely used databases, but we've never been able to fully realize its potential. We never really found out the reasons behind the frequent timeouts and connection errors, so we're now trying to migrate to a different database.
The Oracle database was selected before I started working on the project, so I can't tell the reasons behind the choice. However, it was recognized as the best suited for holding several million records for related entities and was preferred over NoSQL options.

We have many related tables with several million records, and despite having indexes, we frequently face issues while connecting to the DB and extracting data. We tried using a MySQL DB for the same purpose, and it worked straight away.
