Overall Satisfaction with Oracle Dyn Managed DNS

A few key engineering leads manage our DNS. Besides regular DNS lookups we utilize Dyn for georouting.

Pros

  • Fast lookup times.
  • Convenient rest API to automate DNS management.
  • Fast and helpful support.

Cons

  • login/user management seems overly complicated.
  • Sometimes load times of the web interface are slow.
  • Helped with deploying our data centers across the world easily.
  • Use of the Dyn DNS API allowed to work around some AWS ELB restrictions.
Dyn provided faster lookup times or more granular georouting than the other providers, also previous experience with Dyn in emergency situation make us appreciate their quick response times.

Support helped us recover from an accidentally-deleted zone quickly.
+ Efficient website
+ Good API
- Account/permission management could be a bit more streamlined.
Well suited where support is required, easy to setup georouting etc.

I'd recommend Route53 for easier less mission critical setups where ease of use is more important than support and speed.
