Overall Satisfaction with Oracle Linux

Oracle Databases and Oracle EBS applications in our environment run on the Oracle Linux Platform. We get support for our database, application, and operating system from a single vendor. Oracle's Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel is fine-tuned to ensure optimal performance for Oracle Databases. Oracle certifies product compatibility for various releases of Oracle databases, applications, and Oracle Linux after thorough testing and this gives us the confidence to run the business-critical applications on Oracle Linux. Oracle Linux is very secure and can be used on-premises as well as in Cloud. Being a cloud-ready operating system, this will allow smooth migration of workload from on-premises to Oracle Cloud infrastructure.

  • TigerVNC needs some fine tuning in Oracle Linux 8.4.
  • AutoTuning of Kernal Parameters for Oracle Databases based on the available hardware resources.

  • Proactive SELinux policy violation message to administrator's mailbox.

We opted for Oracle Linux due to the support from Single Vendor for Virtualization Platform, Operating System, Databases, and Applications. The cost of support offered by Oracle Corporation was lower compared to the support cost of another vendor. Better access to the Oracle YUM public repositories. Oracle is more easily accessible through its local regional offices and account managers.
We have not encountered any issue with Oracle Support so far for the management of Oracle Linux.
