Overall Satisfaction with Oracle Linux

Oracle Linux is being used accross the whole organization! one of the main business problem that it address is the oracle licensing..and the cost of it. With Oracle Linux, we control the cost through oracle hard partitioning technology. Also we have less support costs as oracle linux is cheaper from every other solution!
  • Performance
  • Database configuration
  • Ease of installation
  • Easy administration
  • Cluster option
  • Satellite option or something like this for easy updates installation
  • Performance statistics
  • decrease our costs
  • better database performance
  • we lose Linux cluster oportunity
Oracle Linux has some positives and some negatives. The main positive and one of the major reasons that leads us to select Oracle Linux is Oracle licensing model. With Oracle Linux, we have the opportunity to use hard partitioning in order to licence a part o a machine and not the whole one. This together with the great performance for Oracle Database are the main reasons to go ahead with Oracle Linux
We are talking for Oracle Metalink. A support enviroment that Oracle use for many many years. The process is the same as when someone open a ticket for a database problem. You can escalate your problem and you can try to find solution to your problem through knowledge base of Metalink or through Oracle forum

Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), Ubuntu Linux, Windows Server
Oracle Linux is well suited for all Oracle products. It is configured in order to work best when you install an Oracle database or an Oracle WebLogic server. I believe it is less appropriate for Linux cluster environment when you want high availability to the operating system layer. We do not find any way to implement Linux cluster like RedHat one.
