Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Paychex Flex to process payroll for clergy, part time employees and full time, salaried staff. With the assistance of the supportive staff, he Paychex Flex product allows us to process payroll for various types of employees, including the complexities that come with paying clergy and housing allowances. I am responsible for all aspects of onboarding new staff and Paychex Flex has been in instrumental part of making the onboarding process more efficient.

Pros and Cons

Paychex Flex makes providing W2's to staff a breeze.
Paychex Flex provides a variety of HR management products to reference
Paychex Flex makes it really easy for staff members to access their paystubs and updae their profile information, such as their direct deposit information.

When it comes to audit reports, Paychex Flex could improve on helping clients locate the correct reports for audit purposes more easily
When a client receives a discount, it would be helpful if the discount were automatically provided each year, or if the Paychex rep proactively reached out to the client first, versus the client having to call and request that the discount continue.
It would be helpful if the invoice was emailed to the client versus the client logging in to access invoices.

Return on Investment

Paychex Flex has great value and allows the payroll process to be time saving and efficient.
Paychex Flex has saved hours by allowing employee self-services options.
Paychex offers great compliance and reporting resources.

Paychex Flex Reporting

Positively - We primarily use the Payroll Journal report. When we first learned of the PPP loan and the ERC, it seemed overwhelming to provided the necessary information to qualify for each one. However, the reports Paychex provided while applying for the PPP and the ERC made the process of providing the required information much smoother and made the process less daunting.

Support Rating

Overall, the support for Paychex Flex has been a positive experience. Between online help, chat and the phone support, we've found nearly all representatives to be helpful, knowledgable and friendly. In our experience if there was a representative who was not able to assist, our request was either escalated or we were assigned a representative who was better able to assist us.

Overall, Paychex Flex is user friendly and designed in a way to make it easy to use. The reports are easy to access, updating an employees pay and profile is easy to navigate and processing payroll is clear and streamlined.

Likelihood to Recommend

In my experience, Paychex Flex is well suited for small to medium sized businesses. It has been helpful in streamlining the onboarding process and it is easy to update and maintain employee profiles and records. It has worked will in a non-profit environment where there is clergy pay and housing, which can get quite complicated. I cannot think of a scenario where it would be less appropriate.
