Overall Satisfaction with Paycor

We use Paycor for managing the payroll of our private high school. It was set up by the Diocese we belong to, who is the superuser. Even though it was selected by the Diocese, I would easily select Paycor if I had the choice. It helps streamline our payroll process by managing withholdings, direct deposits, and tax documents.
  • Processing payroll and direct deposits.
  • Filing tax documents on behalf of our organization, including annual tax documents to the employees.
  • Managing/automating withholdings, especially those with limits or conditions.
  • While I haven't taken full advantage of them, I like the provided webinars they provide.
  • The reports feature seems like there is so much information there, but trying to use it is not intuitive and can be a bit cumbersome.
  • I have not figured out a way to get it to tie into our accounting system to further automate the payroll process.
  • I wish there was a searchable help database. Sometimes there may be something I'm not entirely sure how to go about doing. It would be nice to have a little how-to guide with tips that I can quickly look at and get back to work.
  • TIME! The time saved by me not having to file forms, withholdings, reports, etc. is immeasurable.
  • Peace of mind that all of those federal forms are filled out correctly and timelines are met.
  • Frees up time that I would have spent researching payroll laws to make sure I stayed current.
Our HR and/or payroll team has saved time, but I'm not sure how much. - For me, it's hard to quantify the number of hours saved. I was not part of the organization prior to using Paycor and I have little experience with payroll outside of Paycor. For our school with about 30 full-time employees and a large number of seasonal coaches, etc, I spend approximately 8 hours a month on payroll. This includes entering hours, running Paycor reports, and logging journal entries into the accounting system. All things considered, I think it's pretty good.
Setting up new employees, payroll deductions/withholdings, and processing payroll are all pretty simple and user-friendly. It is relatively intuitive. My only real complaint is the usability of the reports. There is a lot of information there with a lot of customization. However, it's difficult to know what report to pull or how you need to customize it to get what you want.
It is great for our mid-sized organization. It automates so much, and payroll is just one of those areas that can be so time-consuming anyway. Depending on the price point for small businesses, I would say it could be even more beneficial. My background is accounting, and I walked into this position with very little payroll knowledge. Paycor takes care of the good majority of forms, filings, etc that a new payroll person would struggle with juggling. For a small or midsize business without a dedicated payroll expert, a service like this is invaluable.
