Overall Satisfaction with PitchBook
We use it to track companies related to or similar to those in our portfolio. We also use it to track the activity of co-investors. We also look up some of our 'star' portfolio companies to make sure they are being tracked accurately.
Pros
- Captures very wide range of startups
- VC exit predector
- Company summary
- Investors in a company
Cons
- total amount invested is weak
- early stage company tracking lags
- some company descriptions arent clear
- Faster time to do research
- Single source of truth
The quality of the data varies a lot when it comes to private companies. Data on early stage companies is often lacking in many areas
- Crunchbase and Tracxn
