Overall Satisfaction with Vasion Print

It is used to deploy printers on a large scale (7000+ endpoints). My org never used a printer server and managed printers manually. Printers were installed manually via remote session. The goal of Vasion Print implementation is to streamline this process moving forward. Rolling out this service in our environment has proven to be quite difficult and has caused challenges of it's own. Being instrumental in the rollout of Vasion Print, I have dealt with the platform first-hand. When it works correctly, it is great. However, there have been a few issues that come about as a result of adding the PL Installer Client on endpoints that I have noticed in the past couple of months that have been very inhibitive.

Pros

  • Quick deployment
  • Driver management
  • Adaptation to network environement changes

Cons

  • Bugs presenting on endpoints in Control Panel > Devices & Printers after installation
  • Bugs w/ auto deployment functionality
  • Cannot rename or add notes to drivers in repository (i.e. full list of supported models)
  • Positive - PL has forced our organization to update our networking schemes across the org.
  • The above is also a negative because Vasion Print requires unique private IP ranges to avoid overlap.
  • Vasion Print makes change management easier.
  • There are some software bugs that have been very inhibitive.

Do you think Vasion Print delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with Vasion Print's feature set?

Yes

Did Vasion Print live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Vasion Print go as expected?

No

Would you buy Vasion Print again?

No

I'm still unsure as to whether I would recommend this product because it is so costly and the bugs and issues I've noticed in our environment have been very inhibitive and are still occurring. Overall, it is a good service. That being said, it has came with a host of issues of its own. The best use case I can imagine is one where a company is still small but intends to grow/acquire other sites quickly. Migrating an already large/diverse org to Vasion Print is a large task and needs to be assessed thoroughly in considering implementation.
