Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Vasion Print is our preferred printing solution, eliminating the need for print servers. With approximately 157 printers integrated into Vasion Print, the system's implementation has significantly improved our processes. Users find it much simpler to select a printer; they click the icon, automatically detect their location, and then choose the desired printer from a map or list.

Cons

SNMP alerts could use some work.
Making it easier to troubleshoot the on-prem Service Client.
Maybe create a Dashboard so that when you log in, you see everything you need to take care of to be more proactive.

Upload maps so you can see where your printers are.
Upload of Drivers for Admins made easy.

Return on Investment

Mostly the only thing we deal with on printers now is the physical printer issues.
There were no calls about everyone's printers not working when the print server went down, as there is no print server!
Making it easy for the users to be able to install their own printer.

Usability

I rate Vasion Print as a 9 highly overall. However, it could benefit from improvements in the SNMP section, particularly in communicating with printers and enhancing the reliability of its alerts.

Print Management Impact

The ability to deploy printers through Organizational Units (OU) or down to the user level significantly streamlines the process for end-users, as it automates printer mapping and eliminates the need for manual setup. In instances where a printer is not automatically deployed, Vasion Print offers a user-friendly platform allowing users to locate and install the necessary printer quickly.

Alternatives Considered

At the time, there were no other products like Vasion Print on the market, so when I tried to compare them, there was no comparison. I still have not come across another product with the same capabilities as Vasion Print. Now, I have not actively looked at it, as it is meeting all of our needs. You tell me if there is another product out there.

Likelihood to Recommend

We don't have many Macs, but organizations
with both Mac and PC users often face compatibility issues with traditional
print servers. Vasion Print can streamline printing across different
platforms, reducing the need for extensive IT support. Companies
with numerous offices can benefit from Vasion Print's centralized
management. It allows users to easily find and install printers, even when
moving between locations. We have roughly 17 locations. I can't think of any scenarios where Vasion Print wouldn't be a good fit!
