Review of Prophix

We use Prophix for our reporting, budgeting and forecasting within the accounts department. It successfully captures the different currencies we use as we are a global organization and have to consolidate 6 sets of books from across the globe into US dollars for our management reporting. Prophix is great for people who are familiar with Microsoft Excel. By using their Excel contributor function this alleviated the pain of people having to learn Prophix or for the accounts department to manually enter data into the system during budgeting season and our monthly sales forecasts saving us a considerable amount of time and data entered being subject to human error. These templates are delivered by email across the globe and received back directly to Prophix. It also is excellent with security in that we can pinpoint certain reports for certain people at different levels throughout the organization and they are kept well-informed to assist budget holders in making key business decisions.

We use the Excel Contributor functionality and this works brilliantly between departments based at head office but also overseas and in different currencies.
Using this functionality meant no additional training for people to learn a new platform. Those familiar with Excel quickly grasped the new way of completing templates they received directly to their mailbox and were able to complete and return the templates straight back to Prophix too so there was no need for human intervention from the Finance department either. It meant we had a good idea of where we were with the budget in much more real time than waiting for items to be entered by a person.
