Overall Satisfaction with Pure Storage FlashArray
We are using them as a replicated SAN across our entire enterprise. It is our main storage source and has drastically improved performance over our old disc arrays. They have drastically reduced the data center space and maintenance required as compared to our old solutions.
- Easy to maintain.
- Easy to upgrade.
- Easy to link into our hyper converged cloud disaster recovery solution.
- We initially had some issues tuning our arrays and getting them to deliver the compression ratios we were expecting. We have been able to correct most of this but think that they could improve the initial sizing and implementation specs prior to rather than during install.
- Being public sector we really have no way to measure ROI. Our cost benefit analysis showed that the Evergreen Maintenance program blew any other solution away by keeping our arrays current with the latest technology and by keeping costs predictable.
- It has removed storage as a pain point for our data center.
Our only comparison is to fixed disk storage. The Pure were our first foray into a SAN solution. We looked at EMC, and other hyper converged storage solutions but no one compared, especially in providing a long term solution.
