Overall Satisfaction with QuickBooks Desktop for Mac

We have been using QuickBooks to manage payroll and expenses for the company. It's been great for the small company size because it's easy to learn and navigate, especially QuickBooks for Mac. The program is easy to use which is a big deal. We don't want to spend excessive amounts of time training employees who could be doing other things for the company. It helps our finance manager to handle payroll and manage bills easily and there is less stress for everyone involved!

Pros

  • The program is very easy to learn, the interface is incredibly user-friendly and there are tons of free resources and tutorials available
  • It makes managing payroll really easy for the employee and accountant on staff. No more lost time sheets or late paychecks!
  • Managing bills and paying them has become streamlined and it's great having everything in one place so we don't lose track of things.

Cons

  • It's great at getting the timesheets from employee to accountant but the time sheet side of things could be made a little easier to use. Some of our older employees have had a difficult time adjusting to the format.
  • More in-program help/tutorials would be great and expedite the learning process. YouTube and other online resources are great but can be hard to track down in the heat of the moment. We'd love to see some easier help resources within the program that are easy to access.
  • Positive: great bang for your buck. It may seem pricey at first but keeping the accounting in office and managing it there takes the middleman out of the picture and expedites things, removing many errors that arise with too many people in the way.
  • Positive: it's super easy to learn and navigate, doesn't require a lot of extra training time. Plus there are lots of resources available with tutorials and help info.
  • Negative: there are some issues with individual time sheet records that have required more time backtracking to fix than we expected. It may be a user error so employees maybe just need a quick tutorial lesson before implementing company-wide.
QuickBooks for Mac is great because it has an offline version and cloud storage capabilities. QuickBooks Online is a cheaper alternative but in the event of needing to access the database without internet access, it's nice to have it backed up when you need it. Plus QuickBooks for Mac has online options too, so you get the best of both worlds.
It is extremely well suited for smaller companies who are trying to manage things on their own without outsourcing too much. The program is easy to learn and doesn't require too much training time before it can be implemented. The online/cloud feature makes it even more accessible to our employees, so it's great. It would be hard for a large company to use it since it is geared towards smaller companies and the interface may become overwhelming with too many inputs/bills to manage.
