Overall Satisfaction with Read&Write
I am a special education teacher, and this suite of supports provides equitable access to grade-level text and assignments for my students.
Pros
- Screenshot reader for PDFs
- Collecting highlights for note-taking.
- Read aloud for text.
Cons
- Tracking the text being read is not accurate most of the time and requires an "update" that requires deleting and reinstalling the app—which my students are not able to do given district administration permissions.
- Equity and access to grade-level text provide opportunities for students who may not be able to decode the text but can comprehend it at a higher level and, therefore, have rich discussions with peers.
This assistive technology provides the least restrictive environment for students possible without demoralizing their "other-ness."
