Red Hat OpenShift Service on AWS
Overall Satisfaction with Red Hat OpenShift
We use Red Hat OpenShift with a on premise cluster and also a ROSA cluster inside the AWS west 2 region.
Pros
- ROSA assists us with the control plane, save our management work and cost
- Supported our CI/CD with our web services.
Cons
- We are currently using ROSA version 4.14. We don't have clearly instruction on how to upgrade to 4.15. It seems that it is a hard fork in code base. We do not have an available to upgrade from either command line or GUI.
- Red Hat OpenShift helped us to move several of our service to hybrid infrastructure.
- We are one of the first group who purchased ROSA, and were new to terraform when we installed our ROSA. The tech team from Redhat helped us with the initial install. It would be nice to have the document in time so that we are more confident to move forward on our own.
IT provided great help. We took some time to figure out how to set up the Let's encrypt SSL at edge. But the overall maintenance cost has been reduced greatly.
- Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling
