Overall Satisfaction with Remote Desktop Manager

As a global company with (virtual) servers located in many locations and different domains, keeping track and logging has become a simple solution with Remote Desktop Manager.
Each server or group of servers can be setup with individual credentials making this process a matter of seconds versus the pre Remote Desktop Manager solution where it mend looking up the server info, and credentials etc.
By linking Remote Desktop Manager to our password manager system, we maintain full security while making it simple for our IT staff to connect to whatever virtual server needed.

Pros

  • Signing on a server with a simple double click
  • Grouping servers in groups/domains and locations
  • multiple usernames/passwords

Cons

  • simple way to adjust the window size after starting Remote Desktop Manager with small window
  • option to logout of servers automatic when closing down Remote Desktop Manager
  • support more password managers
  • it has a marginal positive impact on our overall business
  • For our customer support we have a dedicated network that exclusively uses the Virtual Machine manager and no Remote sessions outside that platform
  • We have a small IT staff that supports our virtual servers for which this saves a lot of time, but it does not impact the overall business objectives
Due to the way our business works, the use of Remote Desktop Manager is limited to the IT staff.
For that reason have given it a rating of 8, but only a limited number of employees benefit from this solution as the bulk of our consultants that support customers can not benefit from this solution due to security mandated separation between internal and external systems
  • Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection Manager (RDCMan)
Less functionality and to high a learning curve for those that were used to Remote Desktop Manager in the first place

Do you think Remote Desktop Manager delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Remote Desktop Manager's feature set?

Yes

Did Remote Desktop Manager live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of Remote Desktop Manager go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Remote Desktop Manager again?

Yes

Well suited for employees (IT folks) that need to connect to multiple servers frequently and switch between those servers.
in particular if not all are in the same domain or use the same OS (Windows/Linux, etc.)
Less appropriate for users that only connect to a single remote device in particular if that is less frequent.
The standard RDP solution is more than adequate for those users
