Overall Satisfaction with Salesforce Sales Cloud

We use Sales Cloud to track our deals. We have the different stages of selling and we have configured those different stages that we sell to progress the deal through the whole sales 12 system. From beginning to identifying a deal, potential deal to all the way to actually selling it and get the contract signed.

Pros

  • I think the workflow is very well defined and it has the options for us to customize it a little bit to suit our needs.
  • What works well is just the definition of the sales process. It's inherently a great process and especially for a small company like us, it hardly took us any time to just adopt that particular solution.

Cons

  • Adding more working with users like us, companies like us, and adding some more critical fields that we don't need to add and maintain. We just need more flexibility in terms of those field sizes and the field definitions and where we add them and how well they integrate with the existing workflow.
  • It had a very, I would say that on the whole, it was a very positive impact for multitude of reasons. We don't have to worry about maintaining it. Somebody else is doing it for us.
  • We don't need to host an internal data center or maintain internal infrastructure when it's all in the cloud.
  • And then we are a small enough company wherein we were flexible enough to adapt our sales process as defined by Salesforce is an easy implementation.
  • I mean at least for us it has not been any negative. Maybe a little bit on the cost side, but otherwise it was pretty much what I mentioned that when it comes to some big companies, the implementation cycles can be excruciatingly hard. I don't know if there's a solution for that, each company. That's why these products and companies continue to evolve.
Actually, we have not. By the time I joined my company, we already had Sales Cloud. It was already there and the decision was made. I'm sure that there were other small companies that the upper management team evaluated very quickly, but they came to a decision very quickly. I mean, this was the best choice for us.

Yes

Sales Cloud as is as defined by Salesforce is very well suited, A for small companies. And B, it is also extraordinarily well suited wherein we have a open green space wherein we've had some clients who don't use any automated system, they still track all their sales and do that in spreadsheets and Excel and whatnot. And when we introduce Sales Cloud to them, it's a very easy implementation. It's a very, very easy implementation because the process is simple, straightforward, usable, and adaptable. Less appropriate. Massive companies with a lot of complications and branches in their sales process. I would not say it would not be a great fit here, it's just that they have to invest significant amount of time and energy to actually build it out. And these companies, if they've already built other homegrown applications to manage their sales process like my previous company did, we already built our own homegrown system and then to change that, it's like re-implementation. It's a massive undertaking that took us about four years, five years, and it is still in the process of being built out even more and more. So that's where I would say Sales Cloud could be a challenge, but I will not say that there is a situation wherein it doesn't work. I mean, some of the clients just need to adapt. I mean, they need to understand that there is a better way of doing their sales business process and then as long as you convince them and then they're on board, they're willing to spend that money and trust a partner like Salesforce who can do all the maintenances and not have to worry about anything, not maintain, not having in-house data centers, et cetera. Right. So it works. So I would refrain from saying that Salesforce sales cloud cannot work in certain places. At least I've not seen that. So it works in most places and wherever it doesn't work out of the box, the client must be flexible enough to support the customizations and then implement it. It costs time and money. If they don't want to do it, then it doesn't work for it.

Using Salesforce Sales Cloud

Because almost every place where we tried to implement it, first of all, they were all very successful implementations. Of course there are going to be challenges and the customers liked it. It was easy for us to teach them how to use the system and they're able to do quite a bit of support by themselves. They're able to bring the Salesforce system administrator from outside without our help, and they're able to use the system and they're getting to that point of self-sufficiency very quickly.
