Overall Satisfaction with SAP Analytics Cloud

SAC has been used for Financial dashboards as well as the SAP Control Tower, the ESG reporting solution from SAP.
From development point of view, creating a dashboard is fairly easy. Controls around accessing certain types of data are also straightforward. End-users will get a consistent look and feel between different dashboards, which is great.

Pros

  • Consistent look and feel, regardless of the type or content of the dashboard
  • Planning capabilities

Cons

  • the way to implement complex calculations and filtering accross tabs/tables is not intuitive in the beginning
  • Being able to use the planning capability saves at least 10% of time compared to the excel based solution. Most important is that IT does not need to be involved when changes to budgets or forcast are made.

Having a cloud solution for analytics is the way forward.
With SAC, SAP has provided a tool for building great looking dashboards with a modern interface.

well suited for dashboarding and consistent look and feel accross dashboards.
using the analytics slice-and-dice is less intuitive, but that is more getting used to how to use the tooling.
SAC delivers on what's promised.
