Overall Satisfaction with SAP Business One

It was being used by the whole organization before we limited the use to finance, accounting, and partial use by operations. It helps us record transactions across three entities and produce the data we need to produce consolidated financials.
  • Can handle complicated inventory structures that can support many selling models.
  • Has good internal controls that result in getting clean, uncorrupted data where it matters.
  • Can be highly customized to adapt to business needs.
  • The way SAP handles inter-company transactions is sub-par.
  • User errors are hard to correct once there is history on that error.
  • Allowed for growth among several e-commerce channels while accurately tracking a custom-made inventory structure.
  • Allowed for a centralized customer management space for customer service.
We worked with StellarOne to do the first full integration with another system, SellerCloud. They were great all along the way, providing great service, innovative solutions, and great advice for the entire project. Throughout the project, they have continually improved on how to best integrate the two systems and helped up get more control over how to best record transactions from SellerCloud to SAP.

Phase 4: Monitoring and auditing the information recorded.
Getting orders and relevant information went well. An internal decision was made by us to change the inventory BOM types used from Production to Assembly, severely complicating and slowing down the process. Stellar One did a great job advising us through this period and helping us recover from this decision. The control aspect of the implementation went great, there was good feedback from both sides to quickly resolve problems.
These implementations are not easy. Even a standard implementation can be difficult. With a never-been-done-before implementation, the implementation team and the user team need to be thorough with planning, make a decision on key points, and stick to them before any design happens. Our biggest challenge was not from StellarOne, rather it was from the mid-implementation decisions from our internal team. StellarOne did a great job warning us, implementing our decision, and then helping us adjust our SAP to handle the new direction we took.
In our case, SAP worked great for handling our unique business needs. We were able to construct, deconstruct, and reassemble our products to meet consumer demand. SAP is great for companies that are looking for a centralized place to store their data, and provide reliable, audit-able, transaction data. For a small business with a simple selling structure, or with no inventory, SAP may offer too much for them to fully utilize it.
