Overall Satisfaction with SAP Data Intelligence

This SAP's Data Intelligence software tool is used for the implementation of for data integration (based on ETL and ELT processes) with defined scope of functionalities and capabilities provided. Moreover, it provides great integration with other SAP products such as SAP 4HANA. We utilize it in conjunction with AWS and Microsoft Azure tools.
  • Good integration and data migration functionalities (from one DB cluster to another)
  • provision and support of different level of data access (tabular format level, ETL layer level, ODP level)
  • Reasonable pricing (pay-as-you-use strategy, without overhead cost implemented)
  • High entry level of usage - for some users like me it is hard to get things performed without referring to the tech support and their documentation
  • the management and control of the source code imposes the difficulties in terms of ease of usage - with complex projects this issue is critical and becomes a bottleneck for the further development processes implemented
  • as easy it is to manipulate and perform operations on tabular data, as hard it is to work with non-relational database entities such as semi-structured documents and files
  • This tool has provided great functionality on migrating DB cluster, therefore having directly positive impact on ROI by reducing the operating costs with the support of Oracle DB
  • It has provided decreased time-to-market delivery, as we have expected to finish the whole project in 6 months instead of 3. This had a enormous impact on the overall performance of the project, with great advantage in terms of ROI.
  • With the decrease of operating costs, we have optimized the overall budget devoted to the support of our DB clusters, thereby improving the cost budgeting
  • Overall, very reasonable pricing strategy provided (pay-as-you-go)
As we are implementing and using SAP 4HANA platform in other related projects, we have seen an advantage in utilizing SAP Data Intelligence. Also, with improved ETL pipelines and migration functionalities implemented, we have considered the financial aspect of the platform - and it is proven to be very efficient. Thus, for our particular situation this platform was the best solution to have, all the factors and things considered.
Great tools provided for the implementation and delivery of ETL pipelines, as well as migration of databases from one cluster to another. Also, considering the whole family of SAP platforms, they are easily integrating with each other, which is a great advantage, as we are using SAP 4HANA for our another project. Overall, it is good tool to be used in it's own sphere of implementation.
I would rate usability of SAP Data Intelligence to be 6 out of 10 because it has high entry level - for some basic things to be implemented I would have contacted the tech support for the proper clarification. However, after getting introduced to the in-depth documentation, it becomes easier to implement the functionalities of the tool. It is not so obvious and intuitive from the start.

Yes

Did implementation of SAP Data Intelligence go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy SAP Data Intelligence again?

Yes

We have implemented the integration with SAP 4HANA from another project for the delivery of the properly developed ETL pipelines. Moreover, we have used and utilized the connectors for the data sources such as Oracle, Postgre, and tried to integrate with MongoDB (with NRDBMS - it is not so easy to use). Also, we are integrating with cloud services such as AWS and Microsoft Azure.
We are implementing with open-source database platform Postgre, in order to migrate the whole database cluster from paid Oracle DB. It comes very handy also with Openshift open-source cloud service, as we have researching the capabilities to migrate for the owned cloud cluster. In that terms, the connectors with open-source tools are implemented in proper way. Also, the tech support is great:)
In our projects we implement SAP Data intelligence software tool for the development and implementation of ETL pipelines, as well as currently migrating the Oracle database cluster to Postgre with the help of this tool. Moreover, as we are also using SAP 4HANA tool, it is easy for us to integrate already in use processes with this new data intelligence platform. Also, it provides good functionality in the integration processes with cloud services such as AWS and Microsoft Azure.
