Overall Satisfaction with SAP Data Intelligence

We use SAP Data Intelligence to centralize all of our website/ecomm metrics and data. It is excellent for analyzing and creating dashboards for our BUs to digest and understand the data. The tight integration with the Office suite makes it possible to export dashboards to Powerpoint Presentation, as well as PDFs (which are especially useful for sharing date)
  • Integrates well with 3rd party tools
  • Allows direct manipulation of external databases
  • Allows synthesis and consolidation of data sources
  • The tool can become slow when dealing with large datasets
  • The tool can be overwhelming to learn because of its breadth of features and options
  • Pricing can be tricky for multiple licenses (at least for us)
  • Our BUs are happier with more transparency in reporting
  • Dashboards can be generated faster and with less manual effort
  • Insights gleaned from the dashboards have helped optimize the website
SAP Data Intelligence does have functionality that is on-par with PowerBI, and has several features that PowerBI does not. Ultimately, we chose to go with SAP's product because of its easier sharing ability and pricing.
We have not had to rely on support a great deal (at least since I have been at the organization), but the several times we have, they have always been available and thorough in helping us. Several of the instances of contacting support have been access-related issues, which support was able to resolve quickly and without issue.
SAP Data Intelligence has a lot of great functionality, but it does have a steep learning curve due to its many features. However, the good thing is that there are many resources to help.

We have utilized the connector for Powerpoint to export dashboards directly to Powerpoint. This has been a great feature, and one that has saved us a lot of time.
We do not utilize any integrations with open-source tools
SAP Data Intelligence is excellent for sharing data visualizations and data 'stories' externally. Our BU (Business Units) love the visual clarity of the dashboards.

When datasets are extremely large, SAP Data Intelligence can still be used, but it should be noted that it can become very slow and more difficult to use.
