SAP a day keeps the auditor away.
Overall Satisfaction with SAP S/4HANA Cloud
SAP ERP is being used by our entire organization. We do have separate SAP boxes for other countries and we use several "bolt on" systems to assist with areas that SAP doesn't provide the level of service that we need.
Pros
- Generating reports
- Handling multiple data streams
- General ledger transactions
Cons
- SAP doesn't have a good tax platform.
- Is not really user friendly.
- Requires multiple clicks to get at the data I usually need.
- The tool has been a positive for the company since its inception.
- It allows the teams all across the U.S. to see transactions and master data in one location.
I have read some info about this system, but only used SAP.

SAP Adoption
- Third-party professional services
We leveraged Accenture for the overall project and Ryan specifically assisted with the tax implementation of Vertex. Note that our company was responsible for the majority of the testing and making sure all our bolt on applications were configured correctly.
Our team did two total end to end test runs before the actual go-live. This is highly recommended since the first trial highlighted several errors that would have forced the team to abort the go-live. The testing is probably the more important thing to do prior to the implementation.
Change management was a small part of the implementation and was well-handled - It was important to notify users of the upcoming changes, but to most normal SAP users the upgrade was a non-issue.
Our transition team did a wonderful job identifying the report, transactions and bolt on software connections prior to go-live. This pre-planning allowed all these things were fixed and the teams were ready for business as usual on the Monday after the weekend conversion.
Even though the changes to users was minimal, we made SAP training available during the two years we worked to implement the new software. Our go-live was in July and we are beginning to leveraging the new features and functionality into our day to day work.
Innovation and work fast is two of our key objectives. As the sunset date moved closer and closer we knew this was a top priority. The leadership team presented the new and improved capabilities this would bring and the teams quickly embraced implementation. Luckily the transition ran smoothly and the benefits are trickling in since.
Our project team failed to see the value with the Accenture team. When we started the project we wasted thousands of dollars going to rabbit holes with no real progress. They were not able to get our highly customized systems ready for the conversion. So be ready and make sure any third party consultants and well vetted and can bring value to the implementation.
