Overall Satisfaction with SAP HANA

SAP HANA is used as the primary database back-end for a good number of our Enterprise Applications and it is slated to replace all other databases running SAP applications. The in-memory features of the database resolves a number of performance issues that had been a problem for many years.

  • High performance for different types of workloads.
  • Relatively simple installation and management.
  • Memory requirements.
  • Long-load times at startup.
  • Growing pains associated with version upgrades.
  • Single vendor for support on both application and database.
  • Great reliability and support.
  • Performance impact has been noticeable by the business.
HANA Studio is a great tool for the configuration and management of HANA databases.
SAP often introduces both fixes and new features to its product. It shows both great attention and willingness to support the product.
DB2 and Oracle are more mature products, however, HANA stacks very well against it in terms of reliability and management. Cost is a huge factor in HANA's favor as well, especially given Oracle's excessive costs.
Veeam Backup & Replication, SUSE Manager, IBM AIX
SAP HANA is well suited for applications that require high performance in various workloads. SAP Applications will especially benefit from this. The ability to have a single source of support for both the applications and the database is a great benefit. New features are introduced frequently and reliability is outstanding.
