Overall Satisfaction with SAP HANA Cloud
SAP HANA Cloud is the underlying database for multiple of the SAP cloud offerings we use, both SaaS and more customized applications. The speed and flexibility in terms of integrations and programmability make it a powerful offering in the overall enterprise BI landscape. In particular, the more open nature of the HANA SQL interface makes it useful for non-SAP products to leverage the data stored.
Pros
- System-to-system virtualization, in particular, to other HANA databases, but also other products.
- Power reporting speed.
Cons
- Free hand SQL scripts could benefit for more utility like query building from MSSQL management studio.
- Enable repository design-time objects, like in HANA on-premises, as some external tools expect the package structure for navigating to views.
- Kept the data in the cloud rather than moving it back and forth between cloud and on-premises.
- Virtualized access when relevant for real-time and low footprint applications.
Much more integrated with other SAP offerings and very powerful response. Less focused on pro-code scenarios, e.g., using notebooks. Extreme workloads can become expensive and more difficult to scale than the dedicated tools that separate the compute completely from the database.
