Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use the private edition. Hosted by NS2. Our company is in the process of implementing an integrated system - all four pillars of SAP P2B , P2P , O2C and R2R along with SAP FSM. The effort is part of a digital transformation initiative to replace an exiting global ERP system.

Pros and Cons

The titles with in the application are easy to understand
Ability to segregate data based on enterprise structures- such as Company Codes and Plants
Provides multiple options to implement a business requirement/ use case.
Built in analytics and dashboards

The version that we use SAP 2021 doesn’t support plant maintenance integration to FSM
Lacks auto creation of services contracts when an equipment is shipped.
No standard best practice that supports in-house repairs

Usability

Easy to create landing page that can be tailored to an individual end user or a specific business user role. To improve the performance the system gives the option to have default values for company code , sales organization etc. easy to work in multiple tiles. Recently used tiles and being able to drill down from a dashboard are valuable to end users.

Once the enterprise structures are defined, SAP S/4HANA Cloud is scalable to other countries. The system supports local government requirements. The system also gives us the option to secure the data based on country and role of an end user. Easy to expand globally and being able to protect the data are valuable to our company.

We went with the private cloud edition to give us the flexibility in managing when to implement the new release from SAP and to secure our information. The field length to capture and store an equipment serial number is limited to eighteen characters. The capability to maintain different BOM - material bill of material, equipment bill of materials is a plus.
