Overall Satisfaction with SAP SuccessFactors

SAP SuccessFactors is the core, master system holding our People profiles and managing the recruitment and onboarding. The application is user friendly and flexible in its setup. The challenge is in finding global alignment and the balance on what functionalities could or should be localized, as legislation is always nearby. Once a portlet or block is enabled (for example compensation information), it becomes unavoidable visible for all end users. Even though it may hold not any data, this influences the user experience. There's also a concern of keeping both the position and people profile synchronized in the processes. The role based permissions are easy to setup and can be dynamic. Though we experienced that permissions may get lost when they are setup dynamically based on the department, when the end user is switching position and department.
  • Flexibility in configuration
  • End user experience
  • New releases
  • Event derivation is on or off. Would like to see that more flexible.
  • Event derivation can't be used in relation to certain events.
  • Dynamic permission groups should capture profile changes automatically, without the need of manually retriggering the profile.
  • Better visibility/transparency of HR data
  • Ownership by the end user to maintain own personal data
  • New single master HR system to centralize HR data
The synchronization between other products and SAP SuccessFactors should be secured. From the moment there's an element unsynchronized, either one will run into a replication failure or there's a risk that data gets wiped out. On the other hand, if the mapping is correctly done, one should not fear any replication failures. As the logic or design in SuccessFactors may be different compared to previous SAP environments, there's also an impact on other downstream applications that should be taken into account.
Setting up business rules is flexible and easy to manage. Even as a business analyst one can find his way into this part. Despite the general positive experience, sometimes business rules do not function on specific objects. It is also possible to assign certain logic to specific permission groups, but keep in mind that changing their value would require the business rule to be updated too. Maybe this kind of configuration should have been ID based, instead of relying on the label.

Do you think SAP SuccessFactors delivers good value for the price?

Not sure

Are you happy with SAP SuccessFactors's feature set?

Yes

Did SAP SuccessFactors live up to sales and marketing promises?

I wasn't involved with the selection/purchase process

Did implementation of SAP SuccessFactors go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy SAP SuccessFactors again?

Yes

It is from a maintenance perspective very comfortable in setting up Role Based Permissions. Overall, I believe the user experience is very positive. The look and feel got updated from the user interface, it's intuitive for them and it holds all information that we as organization would like to enable for them.
Sometimes the look and feel for the configuration could be improved. The behavior or experience is not always consistent. Personally I dislike working in the reporting area as its performance is not optimal. The execution from a report is fine, but the creation requires some patience. Recently we also experienced performance issues in general, which is of course affecting the full PX organization.
