Overall Satisfaction with SAP SuccessFactors HCM

SAP SuccessFactors is our global HXM product. We are a SAP shop using S4/Hana and Concur. We have deployed it globally in 17 local languages. It interfaces with all payrolls globally. We use employee central, talent management, performance management, learning, recruiting, and Onboarding. We are currently in the process of upgrading SAP Jam to Work Zones.

Pros

  • Centralized employee data in the profile
  • Easy to use home page with cards
  • Role based permissions for access control

Cons

  • Reporting, would like better query tools for quick data extraction
  • Performance, the system is extremely slow.
  • Admin center has too many tools with poor naming convention and categorization, making it hard to find things

  • Onboarding 2.0 has streamlined the candidate workflow
  • Integration with OpenText has allowed us to become paperless
The user interface is responsive and works across multiple devices / platforms. Allowing employees to access the system from anywhere. The menu / home page / search bar is intuitive and does not require extensive training for end users. The employee profile provides a single look into the employee without having to navigate through many menus and search for the information.
We are cautiously optimistic that business AI will help streamline some of our workstreams. Due to legal / ethical concerns we are looking at starting with lower impact use cases. Such as implementing Joule and document grounding to answer employee questions. Or enabling the tools in recruiting to help check the language of job postings.
Oracle seems to have more functionality when it comes to tracking non-core HCM data. For example, they have modules related to occupational health and safety. But in the core HCM modules - personal, job, compensation, talent, and performance they are relatively similar in functionality.

Some highlights where SAP SuccessFactors stands out are: configuration, integration with Employee Central, and data imports. The system lends itself to be highly configurable. It is very easy to create user defined records / fields and leverage them in the employee profile and reporting. The ability to create business rules, templates, and forms enables SuccessFactors to be tailored for your business needs. Having Employee Central with a single profile to see all employee data in one screen is helpful. The tools to get data into the system are easy to use and enforce data integrity. Import Employee Data and Import/Export data allows for non-technical resources to manage information. One of the frustrating issues with SuccessFactors is documentation. There is a large volume of documentation available. But trying to search me.sap.com to find what you need and filter it down is difficult. And then when you find relevant documentation it sometimes lacks practical direction and is too high level.
