Overall Satisfaction with Shift
Shift seems to be the best stand-alone email client. It can integrate multiple accounts, with incoming messages automatically grouped into as many as four categories. Implementation was simple. I just entered the account access information, and it imported everything. I rely on it at work daily to handle email quickly and efficiently without losing track of any. It just works. I've never had to call customer support. I've tried other email clients, but Shift is the most reliable and the only one that works for me.
Pros
- First, It combines multiple email addresses in one location.
- Second, it places the incoming messages into one of four groups so I can go to a particular group when I'm ready to address any issues found there.
- The setup was simple; I just entered the access information for each email account, and it imported everything. Then, it was easy to set filters to direct certain content to a particular group, not necessarily based on the email address receiving the item. I had all the emails where I could handle it. As time passed, I added filters for messages of new types or from new sources. It's always simple and never a hassle.
- Printing the email message and/or attachments to my PDF editor or printer is easy.
- It's easy to open links within emails to a new tab within the Shift window.
- It also provides easy access to my calendar, contacts, cloud drives, and other add-ins I use.
Cons
- Like any browser, some external links don't like the Shift browser tabs. When this happens, it's easy to open the link, from the email message to another browser. If it doesn't work there, just copy it to another until you find one that works.
- Shift had trouble, at times, printing to my PDF editor (PDF-Exchange Editor Plus), but they seem to have fixed it in the latest update. So it seems they've already corrected this issue. I haven't had this problem for several months, so it appears to be working. Update - Several more months have passed, and this issue seems to have been completely resolved.
- I keep up with all of my six work email accounts with Shift. It handles them better, for my purposes, than I have seen any other email client handle one. The grouping feature makes all the difference.
- It has helped me handle my email from all of these addresses quickly, efficiently, and reliably, with no problems, no surprises, nothing missing, nothing lost.
- Directing incoming emails to one of up to four specific groups has enabled me to focus on what I'm working on without having other emails in the way.
Shift works seamlessly with Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, Dropbox, Grammarly, Google Drive, Google Keep, LastPass, and many other services. All email accounts are available in a consistent format, regardless of the source. Getting things to Google Drive and other cloud services is simple, as is adding events to my calendar.
Having my mail from multiple sources and many apps working together is a dream come true. I can accomplish tasks much more quickly and efficiently, thanks to the integration of various email providers and multiple apps. It allows me to stay focused because whatever I need is always on the screen. I click it and it's instantly available.
EasyMail had issues for me. It worked a lot like the browser version of Gmail and lacked some of the features Shift provides. I haven't used it in a while, but when I was using it, I often had difficulty printing and saving emails and attachments. Mailbird is very good, but doesn't allow grouping like Shift. Shift is the winner, hands down.
