Overall Satisfaction with Skuid
We use Skuid across multiple clients in different industries such as manufacturing and financial services. Because Skuid is a user interface builder tool that allows rapid customization user experiences on top of Salesforce.com, it enables us to build applications that solve a wide variety of business problems. The best way to describe Skuid is it's a cloud-based app builder that provides a unified user experience across multiple cloud-based systems such as Salesforce.com, Microsoft, Google and almost any other system that has an API.
- Rapid app development tool - ability to build a wide variety of web application at speed using point-and-click design tools while still allowing advanced customization using standard web technologies such as HTML, CSS and Javascript.
- Supports agile development approaches - due to it's ease of use and speed, Skuid enables users to prototype and build apps in shorter development cycles while lowering development costs.
- Empowers citizen developers - due to it's low learning curve and configuration-based development, Skuid can be used by business users with no technical experience needed. Applications can be built, deployed and supported without the need for developers.
- Additional documentation and support - in the early days there was limited documentation and community support. It has improved recently however there could be more help and support in terms of examples and customer support especially for new features.
- Minor issues and bugs - Simple to moderate applications can be built quickly and easily but more advanced complex applications require additional expertise and support to achieve.
- Better mobile/responsive support - Although apps work well in a desktop browser there are limited examples and support of mobile apps. A fully mobile responsive app is possible but not easy to achieve.
- More user interface components - There are some powerful components such as the table component but given the wide range of user interface widgets available Skuid needs to provide more to keep up with other user interface builder tools.
- Skuid has an ROI report called "Total Economic Impact of Skuid" available on their website which does accurately represent the benefits it offers based on a study done by Forrester.
- In order to maximize investment in Skuid it is best to use it across the business to build multiple applications.
- Skuid is able to meet time to market and digital transformation demands as long as there is a commitment and investment in the tool by the business. An proper evaluation should be conducted to ensure it is a good fit.
Skuid is both an alternative and compliment to the Salesforce Lightning development tools. It extends Lightning user interfaces without requiring a developer. It can also run natively in AWS without needing to have a Salesforce instances to build on.
Skuid is also cloud-based alternative to traditional spreadsheet and database apps that have been build using Microsoft Excel and Access. It offers a migration path from legacy (desktop) processes and databases to a fully web-based applications that can be access by multiple users using their browser.
