Overall Satisfaction with Skype for Business

It's used across the organization. We recently converted from Google Apps to Office 365, so skype for business was essentially a replacement for gchat. For that reason alone, it is definitely a welcome relief and an effective collaboration tool.
  • Detects your location and sets it to one of your preset locations.
  • Simple user interface.
  • It works well with other Microsoft tools.
  • Not terribly excited about the skype rebranding (I like it better when it was Lync).
  • I'm not a fan of the way it organizes contacts.
  • Not having control over my conversation history (allows system admins to deactivate that--not cool).
  • Positive: Easy to determine availability of colleagues.
  • Negative: It's kind of a bummer that Skype for Business doesn't seem to work on my Windows phone (I wonder if it's because I have the standard Skype app and it's somehow not able to treat the user profiles differently). I didn't have this problem with the Lync app, although I understand the backend setup is mostly the same. Weird.
  • Neutral: I suppose the platform stability of having "all Microsoft" O365 tools is a positive. So Skype for Business just seems to fit into that puzzle neatly.
I didn't have much a choice on this.
