Use Cases and Deployment Scope

The ability to quickly produce graphics for eLearning, training guides, videos, job aids, reports, and emails, with quality content, has been outstanding! I have been able to use this product to create graphics used in multiple eLearning courses without the need for Photoshop!

Quick screen captures for graphics, gifs, and videos!
Intuitive tools
Low cost

Cons

There isn't a cloud-based solution
Memory Hog - best used with lots of RAM (I have 16 GB)
Not robust, like Photoshop (but that can be considered a good thing too!)

Return on Investment

I have my own license that follows me wherever I go! So, there is no impact on the company's budget.
SnagIt needs memory for the best results (I recommend 8 or more!)
Being able to use this software to quickly complete a project is best ROI you can ask for! ;)

Alternatives Considered

Adobe Photoshop

Similar products are free while others are more expensive; however, I have yet to find one that competes with SnagIt in all the areas I use this software for!

Likelihood to Recommend

What I like best about Snagit is its intuitiveness. This has been my go-to tool for multiple types of projects over the years; especially, projects that needed to be done quickly. And even though I have been able to quickly produce graphics for eLearning, training guides, videos, job aids, reports, and emails, the quality is comparable to some work done in Photoshop.

SnagIt is less appropriate if you need to create high-quality, high-resolution images. Photoshop is your best bet for that; especially, projects that have dedicated time and project managers.
